This event brought brilliant minds together to explore a fundamental question: Is the current development in the digital world contributing positively or negatively to sustainability? The answers were illuminating, and amidst the discussions and contributions, two outstanding initiatives were honored with the prestigious SustainabilITy2030 Award.
Professor Dr. Timothy Griffin, the head of the Institute for Biomass and Resource Efficiency at FHNW, presented the first award to Ivo Kuhn from Sharely. Sharely, an innovative rental platform, operates on the principle of "own less, do more." Its mission is to enable people to rent locally all the things they infrequently need. Sharely connects owners and renters through a user-friendly app, facilitating the sharing economy.
The second award was presented by Dr. Prof. Arzu Cöltekin, Head of the Institute for Interactive Technologies at FHNW, to Simon Gasser, our Product Manager here at Ecorobotix.
Ecorobotix description from FHNW article:
"The company, based in Yverdon-les-Bains, develops precise field sprayers for crop protection products that are equipped with high-resolution cameras and computers. These take images of the soil and evaluate them in virtually real time to see what plants are growing there. Unwanted plants are then treated with herbicides with pinpoint accuracy, while crops receive insecticides and fungicides to protect them. This allows up to 90% less crop protection products to be used while safeguarding crop yields."
